If someone wrote a letter to you what would it say? Not shooting a quick text or message. No FaceTime, face to face or even a telephone call. But actually taking precious time to think, intimately handwrite, lick and attach a postage stamp, and drop it in a mailbox. What would they write about you? In these tech savvy days for a letter to be written in regards to an individual. It’s either really good or really bad. You know what you think about yourself. How you feel about who you are as a human being. The inner peace, love and confidence that you have or don’t. The image that you reveal to the world and the real you. Only you know what you truly feel about you. But what about others?

Everyone is dressed to the nines all on their best behaviors. The champagne and alcohol are flowing. While the conversations are just as full as the glasses. Talk about subjects that they never touched on before. But no disagreements or confrontations. Everyone is saying and doing all the right things. All the shiny exteriors of these beautiful people all with the picture perfect images at this ball. But what happens at midnight when the Bentley turns back into a pumpkin and all the masks come off. Who’s really under there and are they who they appeared to be the night before?

Climbing up these dark stairs, its only you and one bright flashlight in your hands. Where you just left it was well lit with a crowd of people. But everyone was just sitting there, nobody wanted to go to the top of the staircase. You’ve been hearing and seeing so much about what goes on up there. But everyone around you keeps saying that you can’t go up there because its too hard to climb those steep stairs. But you just are too determined to reach it. You feel like you belong up there even though the walk is a bit scary and hard to climb.

If you’re a betting man or woman. I’m pretty confident in betting against you. That you putting a ring on yours and another is not going to change them. So many people get into relationships with the intentions on changing some or everything about their spouse. At the beginning when red flags go up they get ignored. With the frame of mind that once we get married those things will change. Once they truly realize how well that I treat them they will make a complete transformation. And the birth of children will really create a full metamorphosis. Well this is where you place your money on the table.

The big fish, the little fish, and the bottom feeder. All swimming around in one big aquarium. Just like we do in this big world that we live in. The big fish, the one on top, the one with it all that everyone aspires to be and to have what he or she has. The little fish with all the potential who is grinding to make their way up and have everything that the big fish has. And the bottom feeder who is perfectly content at the bottom picking up whatever crumbs the both of them drop down.

Own your s*it, be as accountable as you are judgmental to others. It’s so easy for us to criticize people and to let them know what they need to do or not to do. Whether we’re giving constructive criticism or straight up jabs. Some of us are much more observant of the next person than of themselves. How many times have you analyzed somebody’s relationship? Or the way that they live? How often do you turn your nose up to people that don’t share the same views as you?

Be calm, don’t panic, just relax and stay focused. Life, it has a way of letting us know the next steps to take. As long as we’re quietly listening. With so much hustle and bustle in this world. All day every day fast paced everything. We all are so eager and impatient for the next to happen now. That we aren’t really acknowledging the present time. So we miss the whispers….

So they disappointed you, turned their backs on you. They gossiped and carried around lies fabricated about you. All while knowing your character and the great possibility of them being false accusations. When the world was in their hands they didn’t even think to check in on you. You’ve always been good to them, always honest, always caring, always consistent. But things are going fabulous in their lives so….

Mother, Grandfather, Doctor, Police Officer, Porsche, and Gucci. The similarities in all of these, you’re thinking, where, how? Well each and every one carry such a heavy weight. When you hear or see them there’s this automatic response of respect. Without even personally knowing these people. Or actually owning or wearing these designer cars or labels, we already put them all on a pedestal. We hold all of these in such high regard just based on what they’re presumed to stand for.

This day is sure to come around every year on the same date, it’s just no way around it. You can sleep through the day, you can deny that the day has arrived. You can even choose to skip a year or two recognizing it entirely. But it still remains valid. Once we get past a certain age the representation of this date goes deeper than the anniversary of the day on which we were born. So many people frown upon this momentous occasion in a sad or depressing disposition.

You bump into her at your local coffee shop after not talking to her for over five years. You all were so close that one day without a phone call to each other was almost sinful back then. This was a woman that you would talk to at least twice a day. She could finish your sentences before you could. Your opinion and trust was valued more than anyone else’s in her life. There were no hard feelings or major altercation that resulted in this absence of years from one another’s lives.

Look at all those reality stars and celebrities always driving around in the latest cars frequenting the hottest restaurants and parties. But I’m not going to watch or support them because they are just exploiting themselves for fame. He has been happily married for over fifteen years with four beautiful children . All of them as a family are a true representation of what I feel is the American dream. But I’m not going to let them know that. I’ll just continue having them believe that I’m content as a happy playboy.

There’s something truly satisfying about cotton, silk, denim, and all the other blends of fabrics that are hanging behind your closet doors. All the different styles, the many colors, and how incredible they make you feel. The confidence that you have when you beautiful garment is draping over you. That instant gratification that you get when you slip into that gorgeous designer dress that fits all your curves in all the right places . And hides all your imperfections even better. Or that three piece suit that fits so much like a glove that it looks like it was custom made with your precise measurements.

Live life, experience things, speak about your true feelings, and take plenty pictures of it all. Life expands so wide but goes by in a snapshot. This is why it is so important to take all the opportunities that you can to enjoy everything in it. This year has really shown us all how our normal can be completely dismantled. So for all of you that keep postponing vacations, putting off making changes or dragging your feet on elevating your game. For all of you that kept delaying important conversations, and the ones who kept playing hard with the person that you truly love. This is your wake-up call.

8 minutes and 46 seconds, it took to take a human being away rom his family, his friends, his dreams, and his whole future. That’s the amount of time that it took to take the breath out of a man and end his life completely from this world. All the years of hatred and superiority pressed down on one man’s neck. Almost 9 minutes for the whole world to get a close view of how racism has become so cavalier that even the awareness of bystanders and cellphone recordings wouldn’t stop it.

Unlike the Corona Virus that none of us were privy to before November of 2019. This particular virus has been infecting and killing people for a very long time. Different from COVID-19 there is no confusion on the individuals that this virus threatens. The age, sex, religion, and socioeconomic status may differ, but the race is unwavering. There are no underlying conditions in these people that cause them to be more susceptible other than the color of their skin.

The newest fashion necessity accessory. The coveted face mask that we all can’t leave out of our homes without. Paranoias, fear, and a widespread shortage of toilet paper. Six feet apart from one another and hand sanitizer is one of the hottest commodities on the market that we all can’t get enough of. All of the restaurants and stores are closed and the once busy streets now look like a ghost town.
