Labels &Titles & Brands, Oh My!

Mother, Grandfather, Doctor, Police officer, Porsche, and Gucci. The similarities in all of these, you’re thinking, where, how? Well each and every one carry such a heavy weight. When you hear or see them there’s this automatic response of respect. Without even personally knowing these people. Or actually owning or wearing these designer cars or labels, we already put them all on a pedestal. We hold all of these in such high regard just based on what they’re presumed to stand for. How they have been represented over generations. The preconceived ideas of these labels and titles gives them more dominance than others without any need to validate themselves. Mothers, we all revere them just based off the natural process of giving birth to a child. A mothers unconditional love of her child. And the nurturing that a mother provides is immeasurable in comparison to anyone. Honor thy mother is what we’re all taught but every mother and every woman is different. Nurturing, caring, humble, hardworking, disciplinarians, who want the best for their children. All these characteristics aren’t in every woman’s makeup, and becoming a mother doesn’t create them. Some mothers are strict and some more passive, but the undeniable love is the common core. So do you respect a mother if she demeans her son and only shows hatred towards him? If she manipulates and wishes the worst for her daughter with no desire to be a major part in her life at all ? Should she still receive the honor and respect under this title? Grandfathers, the sweet men that treat our kids, their grandchildren more golden than they did us. The older man that is completely wrapped around their little fingers. He gets the utmost respect as the head of the family. As an elder he is valued for wisdom and holds the position of responsibility earning the rights to everyones respect simply from the years he’s walked on this earth. But what if he is the man that takes advantage of his grandpa title. What if he fuels off of that to exploit or God forbid to violate his grandchild. What if he acknowledges that he’s protected by that name using that to degrade his children’s children. Does he still get embraced as dear old grandpa? One of the most highly academic earned degrees conferred by a person. That grants one of the most privileged and respected occupations, a doctor. They can treat and help cure your sickness or disease. The have the knowledge to help you get your mind and mental stability adjusted. We look at them as angels with white coats on who have all the right answers and can do no wrong. However there are doctors that make medical mistakes that lead to malpractice cases. Like delayed diagnosis or misdiagnosis, medication and surgery errors, and death. There have been cases of doctors that have performed certain procedures on their patients without their consent and other cases where thy have even abused patients under their care. Does this title entitle them to be honored as superior beings because of their skills and first class education? Police officers, I think we have all known some excellent ones that truly hold their badge as a honer to serve and protect everyone. And now we all have recently witnessed the other ones. Should they be excused of their actions and their abuse of power because they’re brothers in blue? Throughout its history this brand has produced exceptional sports cars like no other vehicle. The Porsche has beauty, aerodynamic capability, and performance all combined. The all time coveted Italian luxury designer brand, Gucci. The timeless and innovative designs are what makes this brand so beloved. But we all know that these brands, both Porsche and Gucci are targeted to an elite class of people. Those who have just reached or are fully established in their profession. These brands symbolize prestige and wealth. And we all know that there are many that purchase these luxaries simply for the image it conveys. Is a Porsche being driven up to valet with your date worth your mortgage ? Is this seasons Gucci line worth purchasing if this designer cut just doesn’t fit your body type right? Should people fall into the mass of popular brand even if it not suitable to their lifestyle or bank account? Should the brand define our status. Or should they be fringe benefits hinged on the wallets of affluent people? Mother’s, Grandfather’s, Doctor’s, Police officers, Porsche,Gucci, and all the other labels, titles and brands. All are treasured and valued solely on their logo. We always hear don’t judge on the assumption of bad. But don’t judge only presuming good either. Behind every human logo there is a person. And every single person is different, some good and some bad. And all the logos in front of these objects can make you. But they can break you too if they take precedence over your livelihood. Check yourself then hold these label’s, titles and brands accountable no matter how worshipped they are. They can’t hide behind them they’re supposed to live up to them. The name is only as good as the quality.
