The Masquerade Ball

Everyone is dressed to the nines all on their best behaviors. The champagne and alcohol are flowing. While the conversations are just as full as the glasses. Talk about subjects that they have never talked about before. But no disagreements or confrontations. Everyone is saying and doing all the right things. All the shiny exteriors of these beautiful people all with the picture perfect images at this ball. But what happens at midnight when the Bentley turns back into a pumpkin and all the masks come off. Who is really under there and are they who they appeared to be the night before? During dating, interviews, social media, or first encounters with a particular person or group. We all put our best foot forward with our biggest smiles. But as time moves on many of us still stay true to who we really are? A lot of us aren’t too far different from ourselves, maybe just a more polished version. But for the others you would be surprised. There are a lot of people that go through life wearing mask after mask all based on who or what they want to achieve. They don’t have any desire to build or grow something themselves. They’d much rather hunt or leach off of someone else. This is why loyalty and accountability is not of importance to them. Their opinions are dependent on the person they are in the presence of. Usually the ones that they feel they can gain more from. What you like, they like, and what your enemy likes they like when your back is turned. These people try to connect and form friendships with everyone. But usually can’t maintain them. When a person can smile in your face engaging in conversations with you from your heart and turn around and gossip about it, they’re fake. And more than likely consistently talking bad about others to you. When you catch them on more than one lie on many occasions. And constantly find yourself in the middle of their broken commitments that were never intended to be made. They are not genuine. A masked person tends to be arrogant and irresponsible holding no responsibility for their actions. Only available to you when it’s convenient for them. And never around for you. These masks that they wear can be very deceiving. So be mindful in between the laughter and all the boot licking. So at the end of the evening at the Masquerade Ball when the clock strikes twelve and your fancy shoes fall off. When all of the drinks stop flowing and the lights come on. Can you stand up strong revealed and not feel exposed? If you can then you only walked in with a mask on not an entire concealed identity or motive. And that it was separates you from the fake guests. Surround yourself around genuine people. The ones that you can clearly recognize after the ball.
